Prayer

HighRidge Church encourages copious amounts of communication with God. Healthy, vibrant relationships require open communication, and prayer is the language of communicating with God. He invites us to speak to Him just as one would talk with a loving spouse/parent/friend, bringing Him our joys as well as our sorrows and needs.

Three basic reasons we believe in requesting prayer:

  1. It helps remind us of God’s answers to prayer. By submitting prayer requests, we remind ourselves that God is consistently working for our good and His glory.
  2. It helps remind us that we need others to join us in persistent prayer. By submitting prayer requests, we are reminded that we need others to persistently pray with us for an answer.
  3. It helps highlight folks who might need a bit of soul-care attention through email, text, call, or personal visit. By submitting prayer requests, we are asking others to be attentive to our life.

In closing, submitting prayer requests to God and His Body, the church, is biblical: Philippians 4:6-7, “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your lifethen God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.
