Premarriage

HighRidge Church believes in the sanctity of marriage according to Mark 10:6-9, “But ‘God made them male and female’ from the beginning of creation. ‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”’

Our Premarriage Counseling is open to everyone. We believe marriage is a covenant for life and we take the preparation seriously. We desire to serve couples in our area by building strong marriages that are prepared to endure the long haul.

We know it is easy to get swept up in the busyness of planning for a wedding and in the process, forget you really need to be planning for marriage. Our desire for premarriage counseling is to guide you into a deeper understanding of marriage by encouraging you to explore each other’s faith, history, personal convictions, future expectations, and responsibilities. We believe Jesus, not your feelings, hopes and dreams, fuels a strong, healthy, life-giving marriage!

Premarriage counseling can help couples establish a positive attitude about seeking help down the road should the couple need it. Premarriage Counseling at HighRidge is an exciting adventure for couples that will answer these thought-provoking questions:

  • Have You Faced the Myths of Marriage With Honesty?
  • Can You Identify Your Love Style?
  • Have You Developed the Habit of Happiness?
  • Can You Say What You Mean and Understand What You Hear?
  • Have You Bridged the Gender Gap?
  • Do You Know How to Fight a Good Fight?
  • Are You and Your Partner Soul Mates?

In Subsequent Marriages, Premarriage Counseling will also answer these two additional questions:

  • Are You Ready to Get Married Again?
  • Do You Know How to Blend a Family?

In order to participate in Premarriage Counseling, you will need to:

  • Be attending HighRidge or be a member of HighRidge
  • Complete the Interest Form below to schedule an overview appointment with an HRC certified facilitator
  • Time commitment, 8 weeks for first marriages and 10 weeks for subsequent marriages
  • Attend all one-hour counseling sessions
  • Complete the homework
  • Premarriage Counseling is complimentary by HighRidge Church
