Pastoral Care Counseling

Pastoral Care Counseling is an opportunity for a church member or guest to receive help in navigating through a challenging situation in their personal life, marriage, or family.

The Bible teaches that Christians should carefully guard personal and private information others reveal to them. Protecting confidence is a sign of Christian love and respect.

The types of care/help we are able to facilitate are:

  • General Needs (spiritual, emotional, physical)
  • Pre-marriage Counsel
  • Marriage Counsel
  • Children/Family Counsel
  • Grief Support
  • Addiction Help
  • Post-Divorce Care

The goal of all Pastoral Care can be summed up in the following verse:

“… You (God) comfort me by Your counsel; You draw me closer to You.” Psalm 73:23

Prayer

HighRidge Church encourages daily communication with God through prayer. Healthy, vibrant relationships require open communication, and prayer is the language of communicating with God. He invites us to speak to Him just as we would talk with a loving spouse/parent/friend, bringing Him our joys as well as our sorrows and needs.

Three basic reasons we believe in requesting prayer:

1. It helps remind us of God’s answers to prayer. By submitting prayer requests, we remind ourselves that God is consistently working for our good and His glory.

2. It helps remind us that we need others to join us in persistent prayer. By submitting prayer requests, we are reminded that we need others to persistently pray with us for an answer.

3. It helps highlight folks who might need a bit of soul-care attention through email, text, call, or personal visit. By submitting prayer requests, we are asking others to be attentive to our life.

In closing, submitting prayer requests to God and His Body, the church, is biblical: Philippians 4:6-7, “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, 7 then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.”

Financial Assistance

We desire to glorify God by being generous as He blesses and directs us – especially to our members who are in need. We strive to honor God by being good stewards of the funds entrusted to us by Him and our congregation. Our “no strings attached” gifts are made once a year, first to our members and then, as we are able, to our community.

Because our gifts (payment of a bill or gift cards) are not meant to be a permanent solution for financial difficulties our church and community members experience, we also provide a list of agencies that might be able to help further. Please note: We do not give cash or write checks directly to individuals.

We want to help as many people as we can financially. However, please understand a budget has been established for each month, and we are unable to help once those monies have been spent.

Benevolence and compassion ministry is emphasized and illustrated throughout Scripture. Galatians 6:10 states “So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
